I’m working on an illustration and I really am in need of feedback. It doesn’t really seem to be working no matter what I do to it. It’s about music you can hear in the mountains. The noises from the wind and the mountains, and noises of a stream. And instruments you might hear, like flutes and bongos and shaking instruments. I kind of hate this. Does anyone have any ideas? Or should I just scrap it?

The one of the left has the view of the mountains, and the wind and rain streaming through. I need to add more to that left side obviously. The one on the right is cropped and the composition is a bit better. But you can’t see any mountains. Also, they both have digital elements, but in an obvious and bad way.

I just launched the blog of my next personal project. Odds are, you got the info on facebook, but just in case, I’m putting together an anthology of stories about the future of our planet. I want everyone to submit or tell someone else to submit, but preferably both. It’s not just a comics anthology, I am pretty much accepting anything that tells a story. It’s gonna be a big project and I’m really counting on you guys to help me out with some phenominal stuff. I’ve been printing in Eric Recktenwald’s studio recently for an upcoming show at Intermedia Arts (I’ll save that for another post), and have become enraptured with this photographer’s work. Eric has a small print of a piece from Nina Berman’s series called “Marine Wedding” hanging in the studio. It is both the saddest and most fascinating new work I have seen in a long time.

And although you have all probably been inundated with war photography by the media by now, and may feel that there is a lot of this going on, and that it is in no way unique, I think you should take a look at this series. I felt that way too, but for some reason cannot help but feel absolutely moved by these when I have begun not to feel anything for war images anymore. Her new book will be coming out soon, and I think I will have to get it.

(I tots posted this on my other blog, but i thought you guys should see this)

I came across this article in the Times. It’s kind of like a real version The Westing Game or Clue… without the whole “dead guy’s will” thing. Basically a rich family hired an architecture firm to redo the interior of their apartment, but the designer didn’t just redo their interior. He put a giant, complicated puzzle literally into the woodwork. How weird would that be to come home and be like “hey honey, how was work? mm, yes, good. well, how about we go solve the next leg of the puzzle? I think there might be a clue in the kitchen cupboards.”

JUST IMAGINE.
